A Cause Close to Our Heart

In October 2024, my mum was in hospital the same day we lost her father. She left with a diagnosis of her own. Then, just weeks later, shortly after her 60th birthday, came a second diagnosis: an aggressive breast cancer.
She had surgery in January, a full mastectomy. The recovery has been long and ongoing with weekly physio and nerve damage underarm that's left her with limitations. But somehow she still puts everyone else first.
Watching her go through this, and becoming a mother myself, has changed something in me. I think about my health differently now. I think about being here, really here, for my daughter, for the long run. That feels more urgent than it ever has.
